| 14.02.07 Photographer to the Stars!
Following Phil's lead, OPS club member Don recently took some
pics of his favourite band, Mostly Autumn. Only slightly better
known than Crucified Barbara perhaps, MA nevertheless have six
studio albums to their credit and a large fan base in UK/Europe.
Their influences are Pink Floyd, Genesis etc, and MA have developed
their own unique and harder edged sound. Don was at London's
Astoria to witness the launch of Mostly Autumn's new album,
Heart Full of Sky - available now in HMV and all good record
stores! - and some of his pictures can be found on the official
website at Mostly-Autumn
Go to home page, click on small thumbnails next to Souvinir
Brochure to open Astoria page. Don says, "Forget Pop Idol
and X Factor - Mostly Autumn are a REAL band making REAL music!" |

20.12.06 Port Meadow Exhibition
Port Meadow is a much-loved and very special part of the Oxford.
It is a vast expanse of open space, part of the Thames flood
plain and an ancient area of grazing land that has never been
ploughed, within a mile of the city centre.
Many people have photographed or painted it, trying to capture
its beauty at different times of the day and at different
seasons of the year. The new gallery at the Town Hall will
be holding an exhibition of some of the best of these paintings
and photographs from 5 to 17 March 2007.
This exhibition is the idea of city councillor, Susanna Pressel.
Susanna says “I’ve lived in Oxford for most of
my life and I’ve always loved Port Meadow. I’m
very lucky now because most of it is in my ward. Also, this
year I’m the Sheriff of Oxford and the main duty of
the Sheriff is to look after Port Meadow. That’s really
what gave me the idea of holding this exhibition.”
Anyone wanting to take part in the exhibition should send
images and dimensions of the items they wish to display to
Owain Pearce at the Town Hall, St Aldate’s, Oxford,
OX1 1BX, including a s.a.e. for the Council’s response,
and return of your images. You can also email Owain on opearce@oxford.gov.uk.
They must reach him by 12 January. The selection panel will
include representatives of the City Council and OVADA. For
more information, please phone Owain on 252776 or Susanna
on 554001. The works must be ready framed. If an item is sold,
the Council will charge 25% commission to contribute towards
exhibition costs. Please note that the gallery will not be
staffed, so exhibitors may wish to insure their works. |

Clubs at this event near Chester on 28th October and we require
15 of our best prints – please bring prints taken in
the last 4 years to our first club meeting, to be included
in the selection process.
This event also offers an ideal opportunity to have an overnight
