30.03.06 Evesham Digital Exhibition

At this year's Evesham Digital Exhibition OPS members gained a total of 27 acceptances. Evesham is a nation salon and acceptances count towards the BPE distinctions. The standard of work is exceptionally high so this is really a good effort by members. The following had acceptances...

Phillip Ball 3 accepts; Don Byatt 5 accepts; Colin Harrison 6 accepts including a Commended for Blenheim Snow; Gary Irvine 10 accepts and Steve Field 3 accepts.

The total number of acceptances was 377 from an entry of 1875. So Oxford's 27 works out at 1 in 14 images or roughly 7% of all acceptances. an impressive result!

30.03.06 Oxford member scoops the prize
INTRA MUROS, meaning "within the walls", is a student-driven project that aims to capture the experience of being at Oxford on film.
We are happy to announce the results of this year's photographic competition. Images were judged on the following criteria: (1) originality and creativity; (2) composition; (3) photographic merit; and (4) reflection of theme. Drumroll ... and the winner is:

Douglas Vernimmen, for his image of Christ Church College. The judge remarked that this image, the most original photograph submitted, was clearly taken by someone with a lot of imagination and photographic ability. Congratulations, Douglas!

Photographic Exhibition - 20th Feb to 4th March 2006

OPS member Gary Irvine has an exhibition of his work entitled "The Ethiopians" showing at the Little Gallery in Broad Street Oxford from Monday 20th Feb through to Saturday 4th March. The Little Gallery is above the Broad Canvas shop and is just along from the Sheldonian Theatre in the heart of Oxford.

We get many negative images of Ethiopia in the media, but this exhibition focuses on the people in their everyday activities such as working, playing, and praying. It is intended to celebrate the warmth, humour and dignity of these proud people from the rich
