Q
Have you any photographic awards?
I was fortunate to gain a bronze medal in last years RPS International
slide exhibition. I intend to go for a PAGB award in 2004
hopefully a DPAGB.
Q Have you any other interests?
Motorsport and travel.
Q What was the first camera you owned?
The first decent one was a Practica MTL3 SLR.
Q Which piece of equipment could you not live without?
My polarising filter.
Q What equipment do you use now?
I still use my trusty old manual focus Minolta X700 SLR, Sigma
28-70, Tokina 70-210, Vivitar 19mm lenses together with Fuji
Sensia slide film. I scan slides into my PC using my Minolta
Scan Duel film scanner to produce colour and black and white
prints manipulated in Photoshop 7.
Q Here is a blank cheque, what piece of equipment would you
buy?
Probably a Canon Digital SLR such as the 10D + lenses and
other related accessories.
Q How long have you been a member of OPS?
Must be about 8 years now.
Q What are the rewards of being a member of OPS?
Sharing an enthusiasm and passion for taking and creating
pictures. Also the motivation and friendships that this brings.
(Not to mention the evenings after club nights spent down
the pub listening to all the stories!)
Q Have you been a member of other camera clubs?
Yes but only briefly.
Q What would you say was the hardest picture you ever took?
Probably night time shots as the exposure can be hit or miss.
Q What is your most successful picture?
Must me my burnt out derelict car with Didcot power station
in the background!
Q What was the worst picture you ever took?
A lot of them are pretty bad! I am getting more selective
these days on pressing the shutter.
Q What is your favourite film?
Fuji Sensia 100 slide film for its all round versatility.
Q What are your favourite subjects?
Pictorial shots, particularly wide angle. I like subjects
such as dereliction and seaside locations.
Q If you could take a picture again which one would it be?
Probably some of the shots I took at Petra in Jordan, which
was a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Q Who are your favourite photographers?
Tom Mackie, Joe Cornish and Billy Stock.
