Meet Philip Ball and Ivor Porter our External competition secretaries. We enter a number of External competitions throughout the season these are both local and national events and we enjoy a good amount of success, this is down to the efforts of our members and the External competition secretaries Phil and Ivor who select pictures and organise our entry on the day. You can find details of dates and venues under or External Comp Dates on our Events listing. Phil and Ivor would like to invite all members to submit pictures for consideration and hope you will find time to support the club on the day. I am sure they will be in-touch to encourage your support. CACC Inter Club Championships Just a quick line to let all our members know that Oxford OPS did extremely well in the end of year CACC championship that took place last Sunday 10th April 2010. We swept the board and won all sorts of Medals Ribbons and Certificates. I have attached the results pages of our entry below for your attention. Out of 18-ish participating clubs, Oxford came top of The Digital Championship by about 14 Points spare, We came a close second to Amersham in the Print Championship losing by only six points, Me and Ivor agreed it was good day for Oxford and to see the judges giving low marks for work unworthy was a revelation. Looking at the results Attached, OPS picked up the following: Colin Harrison: a certificate of merit for My Street in the Print Championship Dave McKay: certificate for his Moorhens Fighting in the members 100 Valentina Picked up a certificate for Lips in the print Championship Peter Welford: did externally well for his Picture Striding Out. He Got a Bronze PAGB Medal in the Members 100 Individual selection and a ribbon for the digital Projected Championship Competition, so well done Peter, and all who took part. Most of the prints were retained by Amersham for the next event, the PAGB federation Championship which is in about six weeks time, This is the PAGB event that represents our region (CACC) against all other clubs in the UK . if you get accepted in this, your print will tour the UK PAGB circuit. So we could see some PAGB medal coming our way “fingers crossed”. Up and coming Event Just a reminder that we have the Rosebowl final day on the 9th May hosted by Amersham (details below); and would like to see some members from Oxford attend this time instead of just me and Ivor. I know people can be full of excuses but an event like this could be helpful to some of you more than you think, especially the beginners, It will give you better understanding of the standard required, or may even spark some inspiration in our older members, if nothing else just come and support. So why not make it a date and join me and Ivor at the finals day we would appreciate your support, after all we have come this far, and it is your club competing.

Hi all just a quick Rosebowl update Oxford may well feel proud again as last Wednesday evening they won the third round of the Rosebowl at Chalfont & Gerrards Cross CC comfortably making it three in a row. The judge was Peter Jackman who just loved the Oxford entry as you can see from the attached score sheet. There were seven No (20s) awarded and Oxford got six. and ten (19s) Oxford scooping up seven, Oxford ended up the evening with a massive 286 points out of 300. Colin Harrison’s (Demolition Derby), and Ian Lees (Time Trial GB) both oxford members were awarded the 20 Stars, for the evening so well done to you both. All the images on the night just stood out from the crowd. I would once again thank all the members who allowed us to use their images, and remind them we need to raise the bar for the final furlong as things start getting much tougher. We will be battling at Wantage CC, on Tuesday 2nd March 2010 and would like to see a few members faces in support on the evening. Phill Ball
